Distributor and Rights management company Hoho Rights (Cloudbabies, Toad and Friends), is heading to MIPCOM with a flock of travelling geese and a group of mismatched demon-slayers as it presents two new additions to its slate for 2025 – Mandy and the Forces of Evil (8×25’) and Where the Wild Geese Go (13×7’ or 1×52’).
Both third party distribution deals, the introduction of the two new properties sees Hoho diversify into live action and documentary genres, whilst still supporting its extensive animation and children’s and family slate.
In Mandy and the Forces of Evil, Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets The Babysitter in this quirky, female-led new live action horror/comedy series for Young Adults, which follows the demon-slaying adventures of Mandy, an ordinary city dweller who inadvertently unleashes the forces of evil and is forced to fight them with whatever is at hand – whether it’s a pink towel, a flat iron or an online priest – as she attempts to save her friends and family. Filled with humour, humanity and horror Mandy and the Forces of Evil, produced by Caligari Film and Samsara Film Production for Amazon Prime in Germany, is perfect for older teens and young adult fans of this increasingly popular genre.
A thrilling documentary adventure series for kids, Where the Wild Geese Go, produced by Irish producer EZ Films, and commissioned by RTE, follows the remarkable journey of the Light-Bellied Brent Goose on its epic migration from the Irish Coast to Arctic Canada. The flock is tagged by a group of schoolchildren and through the eyes of these young “Goose Detectives” and a dedicated team of scientists, viewers embark on a journey to uncover the secrets of these amazing birds’ remarkable voyage. A hybrid live action/animation production, Where the Wild Geese Go offers a unique window into the intersection of culture, conservation and education.
“This is an exciting move for Hoho into the drama and doc space and we’re looking forward to introducing these two very different but very distinctive properties to buyers at MIPCOM,” says Helen Howells, Joint Managing Director, Hoho Entertainment. “International drama is definitely becoming more popular with fiction buyers so we hope this new comedy horror series will resonate with those buyers and their young adult audiences.”
Hoho Rights can be found at MIPCOM on the UK Village, Stand P-1, E58D
